South Korea Trip - Day 2 - Namsan Tower

After lunch at home, courtesy of our roomates.. I was full, happy and ready to start my day. Armed with new leggings and boots, I held my head high and wore a smile while ascending the apartment. We were supposed to meet Yujin from Ewha Women's University at 12.30pm but she had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. So, this is our first attempt to sight-seeing without any tourguides. We decided to visit Namsan Tower. Go go go~

Love my new kicks! ^^
Our selca for the day, in the bus.

Azza and Azma (our roomates a.k.a house owners) showed us the direction to the tower. After 5 minutes of confusion, we asked the concierge at a nearby hotel. The description from Azma and the concierge was similar "The cable car to the tower is behind Pacific Hotel, it's about 15 minutes walk." They did NOT tell us that it was not a walk, it was a freaking HIKE! The hill behind the hotel was very steep and it really brought memories from Recreation class back. ;) We arrived safely at the cable car station that would bring us right to the tower.

Namsan Map

Padlocks of love.

These padlocks represents the love that is being locked so that it'll never go away. U're supposed to throw the keys to the padlocks down the hill so that nobody can unlock the 'love'. When Alex and Sinae done this on We Got Married, i think it was just a few. When Andy and Solbi came to do the same, it was already a lot. Now, it's overloaded.

Nado! (Me too!)

Gom kachi.. (with bears..)

We didn't go up the tower nor visit the Teddy Bear Museum cuz we're gonna come back when it is at night. I heard the laser shows are spectacular.

Traces of gaeul (autumn)

Very pretty road..

I'm surprised that flowers survives in this cold weather. But actually it's not flowers. They are really hard and it looked like colored lettuce. hehe!
After awhile, we thought we'd head to our next destination as we were out of things to see anymore. Suddenly, the mascots made their entrance and made us stay. They are the cutest things ever! I bet they are grateful to be in the suits during winter and suffer in summer. keke.

The adorable koyangi (cat) mascot.
The funny thing was the mascots didn't stop teasing the policemen. Oh, forgot to tell u. There were a group of policemen there. I don't know what they were doing on the Namsan hill but they were eating icecream and walking around and doing nothing. One thing that is peculiar, they're always in lines. Very2 disciplined. Even when we asked two of them to take pictures with us, they stopped eating the icecream, didn't say a word and automatically turned to their superior to ask for permission to pose with us. When the leader (i guess) nodded, only then they posed with us. haha. cute policemen! most of them are VERY tall and some are handsome too. They should be actors instead of policemen. ;p

A hobbit with two Gandalves.

Mongmyeoksan Beacon Hill Site
After we got tired of playing with the mascots, we've noticed that there are a few men practising martial arts. We thought, let's watch them do their thing. After half an hour of waiting, nothing happened. So, we went to get 800won coffees, to warm out freezing bodies. To sip warm cocoa on a cold day is just perfect. ;)

Finally, the warriors put on their long-awaited show

Impressive skills

Me and my warrior in blue skirt and my blue pet.

Leaning Namsan Tower. Thanks, Nuu.

The view from the cable car on our way down

A very warm Malay family

We bumped into each other on the hill and we coincidentally rode the same cable car. We discovered that actually there's an elevator from the cable car station to the foot of the hill. Nevertheless, the hike was a great way to digest our lunch.
